Color Help

I painted my dining room below the chair rail and added this damask stencil. Now I am stuck on what to do on top. I need your suggestions! Do I go with the same color (the kitchen is this color too, I wanted to tie the rooms together as they are connected by a large island) or would that be too much? Go with white? Cream? I just am not sure.

  1. Ok, Christina, where do you find the time and energy to do all these projects?!?!?!? You are amazing!! That damask stencil looks awesome!! I am so jealous of all you accomplish!! Can you bottle some of that energy up and send it to Ohio???

I would suggest a very soft cream up top. Not too white, not too creamy. Just enough to make the white woodwork pop! Just a thought!

  2. I wouldn't have guessed that is a stencil! That is beautiful!

My suggestion is to paint the top a very pale version of the bottom color.

  3. Beautiful work! I would probably go with the color of cream of white that you stenciled. Maybe paint a portion of the wall first and then if you don't like it paint over it. The pale version of the bottom color is interesting too. You've already done the hard work!

  4. Well I think I would go with a very creamy white, not a yellowy cream. If you go with white white, your woodwork will not stand out. My living room and kitchen are a Sherwin Williams color called Decor White and I really like how it looks against my white woodwork in the kitchen.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving me such nice remarks. I really appreciate it.

Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

  5. I would go with a lighter shade of the bottom color - I think it would really make the stencil and the white trim pop (my husband hates that word)- maybe beef up the chair rail??

  6. I would also choose a lighter shade of the bottom color!!!

  7. I vote for a paler color of the base color. I also think a beefier chair rail would be faublous!

Love the stencils & the color of the bottom - great job lady!!

  8. I love the crispness of white...but I'm a little biased. I'm painting my entire home (almost) white right now...haha! Love the stencil! You did a beautiful job!

  9. I would paint the top a creamy white color, just a tad warmer than the trim white. You could also do the same stencil over the creamy white color in the same white as the bottom stencil color.

    Great job on the bottom.

  10. I have absolutely no design sense but I think the color of the stencil would pull everything together.
