Footboard Reinvented, again

I was never quite happy with the way it turned out. I really liked the flowers one I made out of the Foosball table, but didn't want to hang it outside, I was afraid it would be ruined. So I recreated another one. Now it hangs outside above my window greenhouse. I may add a flower box below it. That is one of the many reasons why I love paint. If you are not happy with something, paint over it. Sorry for the dark pictures it has been rainy and gloomy all day.

My Table Reinvented

After my post on my make over Saturday I realized that I also painted a table I never showed you. We have had this table since we were married, it has been painted a few times already. I wanted something similar to the dresser I did. So I painted the table black and did this decorative scroll design on the top. What do you think?

Awesome Weekend

That is what we had here! The weather was perfect. Had lots of fun. Yesterday my oldest daughter had a softball tournament and they won! Was able to finally finish cleaning up the back yard and do some painting. I made this cute flower box out of an old CD holder, just added some ball feet and painted. I cannot wait to plant some inpatients in it.

We went for a drive this afternoon up north and stopped for some ice cream. I think the place was called the caboose.

Makayla and I went for a nice walk down to the marina... were I may be making a few signs for the restaurant, but more on that later.

Hope you all had a nice weekend too. Thanks for all the nice comments on the Foosball transformation.

My Make Over

I decided to join the make over party again this month. For those of you who read my blog I have done a few makeovers this month, this one is my favorite and I don't think I have shared it yet.

It all started with this old folding Foosball table, I loved the wood frame and the metal legs. I wanted to make a plant table for out back deck

But after I did this, I didn't want to cover it up with plants...so it is now hanging in the house. I may find a place for it outside this summer. Flowers is written in 6 different languages, hopefully I got them all right.

I had a lot of fun with this one. Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed it as well.

I am very grateful for everyone and everything in my life. I have a wonderful husband and three great kids. My husband and I started out very young. We have been able to accomplish much more than most people thought. I earned my Bachelors degree, hubby is slowly working on a degree. We bought our house and were barely old enough to drink. We have and continue to work really hard to provide for our family. I am really blessed to have such a supportive family and friends. They let me "create" and don't usually give me such a hard time.

Again Thanks Dawn!!!!!

Well now I am supposed to nominate 10 blogs, I don't even have that many followers, LOL. Here they are...

Robin @ Happy at Home

Teresa @ Cherry Checkers

Michelle @ From House to Home

Candy @ Junk Sophisticate

Since everyone else is hubby and relatives I won't send it along.

Happy Earth Day!

We try to be environmentally friendly here. We recycle, use reusable bags, only use compact fluorescent bulbs, and turn off lights when not in use. (well we try really hard anyway) I am either proud or embarrassed to say we have only bought 2 pieces of furniture new, our TV cabinet and a bakers rack. All couches, tables, chairs etc were bought used or given to us. I think that qualifies as we are keeping things out of the landfill. (at least that is what I keep telling myself)

I also use recycled/re purposed wood for my signs whenever I can. I am fortunate enough to have people give me wood so I am able to make signs. My friends husband works for a local monument company and I am able to get crates that are used in shipping the monuments. My neighbor bought their home from an old man who use to work at the Library Bureau (they made furniture) and he had brought tons of wood home. They let me have it all I just had to carry it out. I spent 2 whole days carrying load after load of wood from their basement to ours. It was a lot of work but so worth it as I got TONS of great wood to use. Below is a picture of a huge pile in our basement, Chris keeps telling me I need to organize it, but thats no fun. My friends and family know what I like or what I might be able to use, so I get lots of stuff. If I can't use it I pass it along.

So I believe I am trying to do my part, how about you?

Check these and others out that I am loading tonight at http://www.signsofobsession.etsy.com/

American Flag

Last summer I had a friend of Chris's bring me an old wood gate. He wanted the American Flag painted on it, he had plans to hang it on their barn. So of course I said take pictures after he does it. Well almost a year later he finally hung it and sent pictures last night. I know you cannot see the details to well but you get the point.

It looks good!

SOLD

Remember this stool

It sold today. LOVE Craigslist...it gives me an excuse to keep buying things, making them pretty and selling them.

What a Beautiful Day!

While on lunch today I noticed all of the tulips and spring flowers are starting to pop up. I think the nice weather is here to stay! Hope your all having a wonderful day!

By the way there was some motive yesterday. My oldest daughter wants a trip to the mall and the youngest wanted a pay check, LOL. She actually said where is my pay check...in the mail.

Signs...

With all this nice weather we are getting I thought I was share a few signs of the past. Garden/flower inspired, Enjoy!

By the way I came home to a clean house AND the kids raked the back yard...what a wonderful surprise. Somehow I think there may be strings attached.

Our Computer Area

Not a very pretty or organized area. So I decided it could use some work since I am in the spring cleaning/decorating/painting state.

I picked up some things from Wal Mart, Salvation Army and the curb...

I painted and recovered the chair. See the ribbon across the top of the chalk board, that will eventually have clothespins with pictures and whatever hanging from it. I may also "beef" it up with some new molding. What do you think of the desk though? Its been black for a long time. Should it stay or be painted a nice cream or white? Do you see my curb side find? A great wood panel door with an awesome glass knob.

I added three baskets to it for storage, computer paper, bills, whatever. I may make some labels for them.

Not bad I spent about $10.00 and it already made a big difference, i will be sure to show you the completely finished product.

Hope the weather is as beautiful wherever you are as it is here!

Meet Chris

The man behind the scenes here. I come up with the "ideas" and he makes them happen.
I think he is trying to show me up. Look at what he has been making, engraved signs.

Oh well, they look great!

The kids are off this week for Spring Break, not me though so I get to work all day and then come home to a trashed house. They did make an effort to clean up though, but of course my version and theirs is completely different. Have a great night!
