A sign of spring

I started out with this candle holder, that the kids broke. I couldn't justify throwing the whole thing away...

I added a few other thing I had laying around.

and came up with a nice welcome sign, with definite spring feel.

I Know, I know Christmas is over.

Tonight as I was finishing up this snowman sign all three of my kids said what are you doing? Christmas is over. Well, I know this, but when I get an idea I've got to go with it. But it will make a nice additional to my other snowmen and these ones will keep until next winter. I just love the ribbon scarf and the buttons that go down the snowman.

A small change...

After seeing the snowmen posted I decided I didn't like their noses on the frame...

I think this looks better.

It's Finished...

Yes, some more snowmen. I figured why not, one more since we live in upstate New York and our snow probably won't be gone for another month or two.

I added a cabinet handle to the frame. How cute would it be to hang a snowflake or mittens, or a scarf from it.It's about time to think spring...stay tuned.

When I picked up my check today.(I sell signs on consignment) I found this cute topiary tea holder. Not sure if it will stay this way, I may try to jazz it up with some paint. I never know what I'm gonna do.

Don't you just love when something just falls together as if it was meant to be? This Welcome sign for example was one of those things. I bought the flower at Goodwill when I was home visiting my parents in Ohio. It was actually part of a garden stake and the flower was meant to hold a tea candle. It was all brown and very boring, but I just thought it had potential. I actually bought 2. They rolled around in my trunk for months because winter had set in and I had actually thought I would eventually use them in the garden. Well last week it just sort of hit me that they would look great painted red and added to a Welcome sign. I just love how the red, yellow and white all look together, just cheerful! My neighbors must think I am crazy because I hung one outside just to cheer me up a little when I come home from work. It's a great pop of color among all the white snow.

I almost finished my little project, should be able to share it with you tomorrow!

Happy Monday

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Did your weekend go as fast as mine? I did manage to paint a few picture frames. These were easy, no cutting involved for Chris, so he was really happy! I grabbed about 10 of these frames from Michael's they were on clearance for $1.00 each, which to me was a great deal. They will make a nice addition to my craft fair items. I did each one a little different as you can see. Which one is your favorite?

I hope you enjoyed! I'll share a few more signs soon.

Let it Snow!

Well not really, we just woke up to more snow, I am really tired of winter AND snow, however tis the season. In the spirit of the fresh morning snowfall, below are some of my winter signs. All are hand painted by me, no screen printing here! I also use about 90% re purposed wood.
I saw this snowman somewhere on blog land, wish I could remember where, anyway I painted one for my porch using an old window frame. Let it Snow! Off to play in the snow!

Hello...

Here I am 10:30 Saturday night trying to figure all this out. I am very excited to try my hand at blogging. I guess I should fill you in about me. I am a mother of three great kids, a wife to a very understanding and patient husband. (he gets to create all my crazy ideas) I love to paint...walls, furniture, signs pretty much anything. I have been making and selling decorative signs at craft fairs for about a year and selling some on consignment at Treasures in Herkimer, I love that place, tons of home stuff with good prices.

Here are a few pics of some of the stuff I have done.

Below was a custom order...I just love the Moose!

I also love to decorate and have been soo inspired by everyones wonderful homes and ideas!

Here is a glimpse at my home. You are all Welcome, come on in.

A corner of our living room...oops should have picked up the entrance see all the boots, what can i say 3 kids and in winter in upstate New York!

Hope you enjoyed my mini tour, just a small portion of the house. Sorry about the picture quality I need a new camera and these were taken on my blackberry. I love signs and as you can tell I have them everywhere.
I look forward to our future chats, until then.
