I got the inspiration for this from a dish towel...anything can give you inspiration. You just need to adjust it to what your good at. For me it is painting. This is a really quick and easy project. First you will need a piece of wood, whatever size you want. (use a piece of scrap wood, if you have a dollar tree near you they have those small wood plaques and they already have a ribbon on them)
Next paint it whatever color you want for the background, I used cream. Which I know its hard to tell in this picture.
Once the paint is dry, (if your impatient like I am you can use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process) using a ruler mark out how many stripes you want, I went with four stripes.
Next tape off the stripes to give yourself a clean lines.
Paint the stripes whatever colors you want.
While you wait for the stripes to dry, cut out a bird silhouette from some scrapbook paper, and decoupage on the wood. You can sand all the edges down for an aged appearance. To hang you can drill two holes and put some ribbon through or just attach the ribbon with two screws in the back. I think it looks very spring like. You could also add your initials above the bird or "Welcome" to it if it looks too plain.
I had fun creating this and I hope you try it too, adjust the colors or use a different image to reflect your taste.
Your right, it looks like spring. Thanks for showing us how you did it. I might just have to try my hand at it.
