2009 Goals

Did you meet your goals for 2009? I came across my list the other day.

1. Start a Blog
2. Start an Etsy Shop
3. Join the NY Crafters Association
4. Attend at least 5 craft fairs

Well, I did start my blog and I am so glad I did! I also opened an Etsy Shop but had absolutely no luck so I did close it. Didn't join the crafters association mainly because I opened a space at the Shops at 25 West instead of attending craft fairs. So I would say that I did pretty good at meeting my goals! I haven't made a list for 2010 yet and I not completely sure if I will.

I thought I would share a few signs from throughout the year. Tomorrow I hope to share a few of my favorite makeovers.

Thanks for all the advise on the basket! You actually made my decision harder, so many great ideas! I will definitely share it with you when I am done.

What would you do?

I painted this basket black and added a decorative wood piece to dress up a normally boring utilitarian piece. My question to you is what to put on the wood. Help yourself, enjoy, Bon Appetite, maybe something in french? I just don't know, what would you do?

Wrapping Paper Leftovers Part II

I promise this is the last post about that fabulous wrapping paper I picked up at Target. I have had this boring, already painted brown cabinet for some time. Ater I found that paper I knew exactly what I wanted to do.After painting it black and I distressed it a bit, then decoupaged the paper to the door. I love it and now I can have a little bit a Christmas all year.

Leftovers

I have been using up leftover wrapping paper and gift bags. I cut up a gift bag, framed it, added our picture, cut off the ribbon handle, attached to the tag and wrote family on it. Not bad for using things from around the house.
I also added some of that leftover damask paper from Target to two of the frames. though now I think I may need to paint the frames black.

I (chris) hung a candelabra I on the stairway.

I am pleased with it and so far no one has hit their head.

Was Santa good to you?

Santa left me these amazing hand carved wooden thingys. Not sure what they originally went to or were for but I LOVE THEM! The gold may be replaced with a nice creamy distressed white. Was Santa good to you?

Teacher and Babysitter Gifts

When it came time to ask Makayla what she wanted to get her teacher this year she answered without a doubt, a sign of course! She had already asked Miss Woody and her favorite color is purple. So here are 2 special gifts for Miss Woody and one for her amazing babysitter! Blogger wasn't cooperating and kept turning the picture.

Here is that wrapping paper from Target. I just love it!

WOW

Where did the weekend go? I sure did get a lot done though. I painted my entrance and hallway ( I know less then a week before Christmas) I wanted to paint the dining room too but I don't think that will happen until after Christmas. It's like once you paint one room you have to paint them all. I painted the living room and computer room a few weeks ago. A few pictures I added the numbers to my baskets that are on the stairs, looks better here then on the bottles.
Remember the stairs, here is the before

And after, I added more frames in white, gold and of course black.

I still need to change the artwork in the gold frames. I picked up some damask wrapping paper from Target that I think will work.

The entrance is a nice warm color.

Just some random other pictures. Some Santa's on top of the TV cabinet
In the kitchen.

Well besides playing house, we went Christmas shopping, made Candy Christmas Trees, Christmas cookies, painted teacher and babysitter gifts (will share soon) I accomplished a lot, but still so much to do before Christmas.

No Sew Project

Remember this sewing table I converted way back when? Well ever since then I have been on the lookout for another to transform. It has to be just right. I must like the overall look of it, good legs etc. since these are everywhere.I found one at Salvation Army a while back. The bottom of one leg was broken so it sat wobbly, unwanted. The price was too high for me to pay especially if the table couldn't be salvaged. There is sat for three weeks and finally on the half off day it was still there and I brought her home. Luckily Chris cut the bottoms off the other legs so it now sits normal.

(sorry for the blurry pics, I had already taken the table to The Shops at 25 West when I loaded the pictures or I would have taken some others)

I painted the top and sides of this one only. I decided to keep it simple.

Chris removed the sewing machine and added a small compartment for storage that I lined with old dictionary pages.

Hope you enjoyed my "no sew" project.

I am linking up to Miss Mustard Seeds, please go so the other fabulous projects!

Eiffel Tower Art

I finally finished something! I just can't seem to finish anything lately. I am not sure why I Lack motivation?? Too much going on I guess. I have been seeing lots of artwork with words lately. Not wanting to copy exactly here is my interpretation. Not too bad, but I think next time I may use different fonts and maybe fill up the space more with the wording. Do you agree?

I have also had these wood numbers I painted forever ago and decided to group my collection of bottles and hang the numbers.

New York

We had an amazing time yesterday! I have a few photos to share. It is difficult to get many pictures with all the people.
Rockefeller Center was beautiful.
Honestly the tree wasn't as impressive in person as it is in pictures or on television.

I really loved their window display, Macy's was beautiful but no pictures!

M&Ms...yummy

Toys are us was amazing! Sure wish the kids could have seen the store, next time!

Bryant Park was beautiful! Little shops all through the park, a carousel, and ice skating in the center.
